Data sources and licensing
WhatNext uses one external catalogue source for TV show information.
TVmaze
TV show titles, summaries, genres, show types, premiere dates, networks, web channels, artwork links and user rating averages come from the free public TVmaze API.
Modifications we make
We reformat and shorten summaries, strip HTML markup to safe text, normalise dates and missing values, group release events by week, and derive our own ordering for discovery feeds. Ratings shown as “TVmaze” are the unmodified source averages.
Artwork is linked directly from TVmaze’s image servers rather than re-hosted. Individual images may carry additional rightsholder restrictions.
What is not from TVmaze
Your list, statuses, ratings, private notes, Circles and recommendations are created by you and are not part of the licensed catalogue data. TVmaze does not endorse WhatNext.
